Seven years after they first began dating, one of Europe's most glittering young couples are due to make their relationship official. According to the Italian edition of Vogue, Andrea Casiraghi, the handsome son of Monaco's Princess Caroline is due to wed his Colombian girlfriend Tatiana Santo Domingo in 2013.

The happy news comes almost a year to the day since the golden principality celebrated the union of Andrea's uncle Prince Albert with former Olympic swimmer Charlene Wittstock.

Andrea is the second in line to the throne after his mother. And along with his sister Charlotte and brother Pierre, the 28-year-old is part of a fashionable set of genetically blessed young aristoctrats. In 2002, the Monegasque heir made People magazine's 50 most beautiful list.

His genetic good fortune may have come from his grandmother, the Hollywood movie star Grace Kelly, who became one of the most iconic princesses of all time. Some of his dash and panache was also clearly inherited from his father Stefano Casiraghi, an Italian businessman who was married to Caroline until his death at the age of 30 in a speed boat accident. Andrea's impressive pedigree is matched by that of his bride-to-be.

Tatiana, also 28 and a fashionista who started her own business The Muzungu Sisters, hails from one of Colombia's richest families. With a net worth of $6bn, her grandfather – the late Julio Mario Santo Domingo – was one of the South American country's most influential businessmen.

The young lovers met when they were both at boarding school in Paris and continue to live in the French capital.
