So far, the Spanish royals have been enjoying a low-key summer holiday in Palma, Majorca. But this week, Crown Prince Felipe, his wife Letizia and their two adorable little daughters, Sofia and Leonor, gathered together for official pictures.
And in a fun twist, the party made memories aboard a train destined for Soller, which is a big tourist attraction on the Balearic Isle. Stunned holidaymakers looked on as their royal fellow passengers smiled in greeting, with Letizia, casually chic in a printed top and green trousers looking especially proud of her family. Once they got to their destination, Spain's dashing future king gathered his girls on the picturesque port with the sun dipping low into the sea behind them. After taking some time out in Majorca, the royals will head to London to watch the Olympics draw to a close.
The holiday will be a welcome break in what has been a tumultuous year for Spain's monarchy. King Juan Carlos fell down a flight of stairs during a hunting trip to Botswana and had to be flown back by private jet for an operation on his broken hip. The accident followed a corruption investigation centring on business activities of the monarch's son-in-law Iñaki Urdangarin, the husband of his daughter Cristina.
