Fully uniformed, a sailor salutes Denmark's future king Christian and his sister Isabella. Their proud parents Crown Prince Frederik and his wife Mary were probably delighted with the way their little ones conducted themselves in front of the cameras, despite the formal occasion. The cute scene came as Denmark's royal family hosted a reception for their country's Olympic athletes aboard the magnificent Royal Yacht, Dannebrog.

Active since 1931, the Dannebrog now acts as the private residence for the royals when they are on official visits overseas. It has been the scene of many a dazzling party, and is the equivalent of the Royal Yacht Britannia. Queen Margrethe was also present for the soiree on the banks of the River Thames. The Danish royals arrived in London last week, while their two eldest joined them later on.

It will be the first time Christian, six, and Isabella, who is five, get to soak up  the Olympics' incredible atmosphere. However, it probably won't be the last. It was at Sydney Games in 2000 that Mary and Frederik first met. So they will be keen to make a special place for the sports extravaganza in their children's heart.
