'Let's not talk about that': Young fan gets a cheeky warning from Prince Harry

September 4, 2012

Prince Harry has been raising eyebrows recently. But he was back to his royal best at the WellChild Awards on Monday evening, and in his inimitable style, even jokingly alluded to his controversial Las Vegas trip. However, despite the Prince's best efforts to put his recent mishaps behind him, one young guest tried to slip in a cheeky reminder.

Before meeting Harry, leukaemia sufferer Alex Logan, six, had threatened to embarrass him, telling ITV News he would say: "I'm glad you've got your clothes on Prince Harry".   But on the night, the third in line contained the situation. Wagging his finger at little Alex he instructed: "you keep looking up at your mum, looks like you dying to say something but you know she will tell you off. I heard you were on ITV earlier, you said something cheeky, let's not talk about that here." Prince Harry is patron of WellChild, a charity set up for seriously ill youngsters and their carers.

Their annual awards ceremony is an important date on his schedule and often brings out the best in him. Handing out awards to youngsters who were being honoured for their bravery, he paid tribute. "All of you, children, families, nurses, doctors, carers, volunteers are quite frankly too remarkable for me adequately to describe with mere words," he said. With a knowing smile, the royal added: "But never one to be shy in coming forward, I’ll give it a go." His veiled reference to his Las Vegas shenanigans drew giggles from the audience – and Harry himself had more than a hint of a smile about him.
