Demure Duchess covers glossy mane and removes shoes for first ever visit to mosque

September 14, 2012

This was the Duchess of Cambridge as she's never been seen before – with her glossy brunette mane covered in a scarf and without her stiletto heels. The demure look was in line with religious protocol for Kate and Prince William's first ever visit to a mosque.Kate was the epitome of elegance in a lovely pale grey dress by Beulah London with a draped head scarf in the same shade. The ethical label is run by the couple's friend Lady Natasha Rufus Isaacs.William and his wife were shown to chairs, where Kate kicked off her nude LK Bennett heels and William removed his black brogues. The couple were then taken into the Assyakirin Mosque in the centre of Kuala Lumpur. Also known as the also known as KLCC (Kuala Lumpur City Centre) Mosque, the place of worship can host 6,000 people for Friday prayers, making it the biggest in Malaysia. The mosque is  in the shadow of the Petronas Twin Towers, the tallest twin towers in the world. On the visit – part of the programme for the couple's nine-day tour of South East Asia – Kate drew comparisons with Princess Diana, who visited a mosque in Egypt in 1992 wearing a pale green dress. The Queen also made a trip to a mosque in 2010 in Abu Dhabi.
