Kate in a much brighter mood as paradise trip continues

September 17, 2012

After their exotic welcome to Solomon Islands atop a bamboo canopy, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were given an even more spectacular reception on the remote island resort of Tavanipupu.Their unforgettable VIP treatment involved being rowed in a beautifully-decorated traditional war canoe by grass-skirted tribesmen.

If the 30-year-old Duchess had hoped to forget about the fuss caused by the publication of topless pictures of her, there were reminders everywhere. The royal visitors were greeted by bare-chested women on the penultimate day of their Diamond Jubilee tour of South East Asia – drawing a wry smile from Kate.Onlookers said the couple seemed in a much brighter mood as they met villagers in the Solomon Islands.Kate looked lovely in a navy sleeveless Mulberry dress from the 2012 Resort Collection while William added a splash of colour in a pink shirt.Earlier the Duchess had spoken about the importance of family as she and her husband began the day in the Island's capital Honiara on their Diamond Jubilee tour.

She had been chatting to local women and girls all working to highlight inequality in Melanesian society in Honiara.

Judith Siota, President of the Solomon Islands Christian Association Federation for Women said: "We told her all about the work that we do. "She knows that the church group puts a lot of emphasis on family and she was interested.

Palace lawyers went to court on Monday to attempt to restrict publication of pictures of the couple on holiday.

The pair will hopefully be able to forget about the incident for a while as they spend the evening in a luxurious £780-a-night lodge on the privately-owned five-star island, where privacy is almost certainly guaranteed.

"She said that family life was very important to her especially now she's married. "And it's no doubt this family she will be relying on for support as the row surrounding the intimate photos goes to court.

Inside there is one large room containing a king size bed with adjoining bathroom featuring his and her sinks, and a big outdoor shower area with enough space for two.

The couple can sunbathe and go snorkelling off their own private jetty, and they'll have their own personal waiter to tend to their needs.

House No 1 is stocked with the finest champagne, fresh fruit platters and was built especially for their visit.
