It was a look that would have made Princess Grace proud. In a shimmering, halter neck satin column dress, and with her hair slicked back Princess Charlene was the epitome of old Hollywood glamour. The statuesque blonde joined her husband Prince Albert of Monaco on the red carpet at the Princess Grace Awards, which recognises emerging talent in theatre, dance, and film.
The royal couple were on hand to welcome some of the VIP attendees, who included astronaut Buzz Aldrin and actress Geena Davis. A total of 25 awards were given out at the Big Apple event to emerging talents, as well as the Princess Grace Statue Awards which were presented to Broadway actor Patrick Page and Sound Designer Darron L West. There was also a special honour for one of the public charity’s founding trustees, Lynn Wyatt. It was presented for her dedicated service and help in establishing the Princess Grace Foundation-USA in 1982 – the same year Princess Grace died. Earlier Charlene and her husband had been the guests of honour at a luncheon thrown for the foundation.
Thirty-four-year-old Charlene wore a slinky red dress at the do with long sleeves and a polo neck. The pretty South African easily held her own with the likes of fellow guest Karolina Kurkova.
