Beaming Charles and Camilla open up about their plans for the royal baby

December 10, 2012

Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall always have fun during their joint engagements, but when they embarked on a busy week of events, there was one special reason behind their beaming smiles.

The pair are still clearly overjoyed by the news that the Duchess of Cambridge is expecting, and in this week's HELLO! magazine, Lancashire grandmother Shelley Cooper reveals how the Duchess of Cornwall let slip she "can't wait to spoil" the royal baby when he or she comes along.Camilla's revelation came as she and the Prince of Wales attended the Sun Military Awards at the Imperial War Museum on Thursday. Already a grandmother-of-four, the Duchess will be well versed in the art of showering attention on little ones, and will be able to guide her husband, who although has no experience as yet, is just as excited.

When Kate was released from hospital following treatment for hyperemesis gravidarum, the future King said he was "thrilled" that his daughter-in-law is pregnant, adding: "It's a very nice thought to become a grandfather in my old age. "Those good vibes were evident as the royals later switched on the Christmas lights in Tetbury, Gloucestershire on Friday, where they laughed and joked with two youngsters who had been assigned to help them with the task.

Meanwhile, proud dad-to-be Prince William has also been getting back to work after an exciting, but tense, past week. On Saturday, he attended a charity tennis gala with the likes of Jude Law and Boris Becker, and spoke with guests about his wife's condition, telling them: "I don't know why they call it morning sickness – they should call it all-day and all-night sickness."

His comment came as it was revealed that Kate has suffered a setback in her recovery from severe morning sickness, and took a turn for the worse on Sunday after spending the weekend resting at Kensington Palace. The next day, William cancelled an appearance at British Military Tournament at Earl's Court, London, so he could care for the Duchess. He is expected to stay by her side until Thursday, as he had taken time off from his job as an RAF Search and Rescue Pilot to carry out several engagements.Read Camilla's exclusive comments in full in the latest issue of HELLO! Magazine, out from Tuesday December 11.
