Prince Harry 'longing to see William and Kate' as he lands back in the UK

January 24, 2013

SCROLL DOWN FOR VIDEOPrince Harry is back on British soil after a four-month tour of duty in Afghanistan. The 28-year-old soldier Prince landed at RAF Brize Norton on Wednesday afternoon on a regular personnel flight. After touching down in Oxfordshire, Harry confessed his wish to see his brother Prince William, and Kate, who is thought to be over three months pregnant.

"Four and a half months has gone really quickly, but I'm really happy to be back," he said. "I'm longing to see my brother and sister-in-law, as any other soldier who has just come off the plane after four and a half months away, I really am longing to catch up with people. "He also defended his revealing interview, published earlier this week, in which he confessed he had taken Taliban insurgents "out of the game" during his posting. "For the thousands of guys that are on operations at the moment we're continuing to try and do a job, a job for ourselves, a job for the guys left and right of us, and from my point of view especially, for the guys on the ground. "We are supporting the Afghan people, supporting the Afghan army, the way things are going is fantastic, the difference between 2006 and now is absolutely fantastic. You get asked to do things that you would expect to do wearing this uniform and that's as simple as that really."

Speaking of his 20-week tour the Prince added: "It's been great, a hell of an experience, I'm really proud of the whole squadron and everyone else out there. Everything seems to be s going in the right direction, it's very different to when I was last out there, but yeah, I'm just thrilled to be back."  Prince Harry left Camp Bastion on Monday and flew straight to Cyprus with his colleagues where they enjoyed "a bit of blue sky" and had two days "decompression" before coming "back to the snow".To celebrate news of the royal's homecoming, a series of chats, which took place during his second deployment to the war-torn country, were released earlier this week. In the series of interviews – the most detailed and revealing he has ever given – which were put together by James Edgar for Press Assosiation, the soldier Prince spoke for the first time about Las Vegas, his joy on discovering he is to be an uncle, and gave a fascinating insight into his bond with his father Prince Charles and brother Prince William.

During his 20-week deployment, the Prince received no special treatment, and was sent on all manner of missions over Helmand Province in Southern Afghanistan. Now he is safely on his way back home, it can be revealed he took Taliban insurgents "out of the game" during his posting"Take a life to save a life, that's what we revolve around, I suppose," he explained. "If there's people trying to do bad stuff to our guys, then we'll take them out of the game, I suppose. "He also admits he "let my family down" with respect to the compromising pictures which surfaced of the royal in Las Vegas and speaks about his views on settling down.
