Monaco's Princess Caroline has flown to London to visit her son Andrea Casiraghi, who last week welcomed a child with his fiancée Tatiana Santo Domingo. According to HELLO!'s sister publication HOLA!, the newest member of the Grimaldi clan is called Sacha and was born in London's exclusive Portland hospital.

Caroline, 56, who attended Monaco's Rose Ball on Saturday night, wasted no time flying to London to meet her first grandchild. She was joined by her two children, Charlotte, 26, and Pierre Casiraghi, 25, who were just as eager to spend some time with their new nephew. The party were in a jubilant mood as they arrived at the hospital and were seen carrying gifts for Tatiana and the new arrival. Both mother and baby have now been discharged from hospital and are resting at an undisclosed location in London. The city was chosen because Tatiana uses it as a base for her ethical fashion label, Muzungu Sisters.

Tatiana, 29, and Andrea, 28, became first-time parents last Thursday. Princess Caroline's press office confirmed the news via a statement. "Her Serene Highness Princess Caroline has the pleasure of announcing the birth of her grandson, born on 21 March 2013," the missive said before adding: "Both mother and baby are doing well".  At the moment, the newest member of the Grimaldi clan isn't a potential successor to the Monegasque throne given that Andrea and Tatiana have yet to marry. Any future heir will likely be the child born to Prince Albert and his wife Charlene.

The arrival of a Grimaldi baby in Monaco normally merits some fanfare: For Princess Caroline's baptism in 1957, four bishops and 15 priests presided. The ceremony took place amid the splendour of the principality's cathedral, which had been filled with 10,000 lilies and tulips for the occasion. But new mum Tatiana's style is more low-key, and such a lavish display of pomp and circumstance is unlikely to surround her first child. Instead, the family base is expected to be in Paris, far away from the media spotlight. It was there that the new parents first fell in love while studying.
