Prince Charles will guest edit an edition of rural magazine Country Life to mark his 65th birthday. That means the Prince will have double cause for celebration when the magazine is published on 14 November. The royal edition will include an exclusive interview with Charles and all articles will discuss causes that are close to the heir's heart. Country Life's editor Mark Hedges was delighted with the coup. "Since its launch in 1897, Country Life has been privileged to be given access to the Royal Family at times of national celebrations," he said.

"However, this is the first time that a member of the Royal Family has edited the magazine or any other publication. "The Prince of Wales has been a great supporter of Country Life and its ideals over many decades, and has always taken a close interest in what we do, so we’re delighted, at last, to be able to call on his wise input and creativity. "We know the result will be a very special issue, which should become a collector’s treasure." The news comes a month after the Prince of Wales was shown on a special edition of BBC One's flagship rural programme Countryfile. Charles collaborated with the show to mark its 25th anniversary celebrations. Presenter Julia Bradbury and her team were invited to the Prince of Wales's organic farm in Gloucestershire and fans saw the royal at his most relaxed and open.

Speaking about her time with the Prince, presenter Julia said he was just like all the other outdoor fans who tune in to the show. "It was as far removed from pomp and ceremony as you can imagine," she said. "We were in one of his favourite spots, in a field in his organic Home Farm at Highgrove, so he was very relaxed. "It was incredible to be in the place he loves more than anywhere."
