Queen Beatrix's abdication heralds a new era for the Dutch monarchy, and you can watch every moment of her son Willem-Alexander's inauguration on HELLO! Online. Our live stream begins on Monday evening at 7.30 pm GMT, when Prince Willem-Alexander and his wife Princess Maxima sit down to their last meal before becoming King and Queen of the Netherlands. Royals from around the world will gather for the glittering state dinner in the Rijksmuseum. Watch as Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall raise their glasses along with their counterparts from around the world.
Denmark's Crown Prince Frederik and his glamorous wife Princess Mary will be there, as will royal couples from Spain, Luxembourg, Norway and Japan to name but a few. Live streaming will run from 8.00 am to 10.00 pm on Tuesday 30 April, which is when the main abdication and investiture ceremonies will take place. At 10.00 am, Queen Beatrix steps down in a ceremony at the Royal Palace. The outgoing monarch will give a short address and sign the instrument of abdication, an act that will instantly make Willem-Alexander king.
Shortly after, the newly-organised Dutch royal family will gather on the palace balcony as Willem-Alexander, who promises to be a "21st-century king", addresses his people. The day will culminate in a celebratory dinner, and the new king and queen will take part in a water pageant with their three daughters, Amalia, nine, Alexia, seven, and Ariane, who is six.
