Beyonce picks out an embarrassed Princess Eugenie to duet with her at O2 concert

May 1, 2013

Princess Eugenie found herself unwittingly put under the spotlight on Tuesday evening when she was picked out by Beyonce to sing along to her hit single Irreplaceable. As she interacted with the star-studded audience, the singer picked out what she thought was a regular member of the 80,000-strong crowd to join in with the track. Not realising she had singled out a British royal, Beyonce tried to get Eugenie to take part, even miming the words, "To the left, to the left" to encourage her to sing.

Eugenie, 23, gamely mimed along, without sound, before ducking to the ground and hiding. "It was hilarious," a concert-goer told the Mirror

"Eugenie was on the front row with Kate Middleton's brother James, and his new girlfriend, Donna Air, plus designers Matthew Williamson and Patrick Cox. She was really excitable and filming the whole thing on her iPhone like any other fan. Beyonce clearly didn't recognize her, so when it came to Irreplaceable, and the part where she picks on an audience member to join in with her, so simply chose the first woman she could reach. When Eugenie, who had gone bright-red, ducked down, Beyonce was forced to quickly fill in the missing words and find a new, willing victim. All Eugenie's friends were teasing her about her stage fright for hours afterwards."

Beyonce is in Britain on her Mrs Carter world tour, which includes six nights at the O2 Arena.
