Carole Middleton took her seat in the royal box on Centre Court at Wimbledon on Wednesday afternoon to enjoy the championship tennis. Joined by her husband Michael Middleton, she was every inch the stylish grandmother-to-be in a cobalt blue dress which set off her glowing tan. She accessorised the summery number with a cropped white blazer, a pint-sized nude handbag and a matching pair of the patent court shoes that she and her daughters Kate Middleton and Pippa Middleton are often seen wearing.
The couple were surrounded by a host of famous faces including Bruce Forsyth and double Olympic champion Mo Farah who managed to catch a rogue tennis ball that flew his way.
The beaming Somalian-born British athlete also performed his legendary 'Mobot' for the enthusiastic crowds.
Carole and Michael's afternoon at Wimbledon follows their two youngest children Pippa and James's outing to the tournament on Monday. The siblings enjoyed a courtside catch-up as they watched the first day of the championship which included Roger Federer and Andy Murray's first matches. The Middletons are known for their love of the sport and Pippa recently joined Vanity Fair as contributing editor. The brunette beauty wrote a column entitled Pippa Middleton's Inside Guide to Wimbledon, focusing on her experiences at the oldest tennis tournament in the world.
Her highlight, she said, was "Queuing from 5am on 'People's Sunday' in 2004 with my sister for three hours, and getting £35 tickets on Centre Court; my first time ever. "Seats were a free-for-all – and I recall almost tripping over myself trying to get as close as possible to my birthday-twin British hero Tim Henman." Last year, Pippa attended Wimbledon with her sister Kate, an avid tennis fan. The Duchess is unlikely to attend this summer as she awaits the arrival of her first baby with Prince William.
Pippa also recalls her first trip to see a tennis match and her ambition to win. "I first went to Wimbledon when I was eight years old and already a very keen tennis player. "During this first trip I acted on my childish tennis dreams and bought myself a postcard of the women's championship trophy, on which I wrote, 'I will win this one day,' with my signature below." Earlier in June, Pippa joined her mum to watch British star Andy Murray storm to victory at Queen's.
