July 10, 2013

They might be an unlikely pair, but Prince Charles and Cara Delevingne got on famously as they chatted in the grounds of Clarence House. The 20-year-old model clearly found Charles to be a hilarious host, and laughed heartily as she spent time with the amiable royal.Cara was among the guests at a ball thrown by Charles and his wife Camilla in support of the conservation charity The Elephant Family on Tuesday evening.

Extending her hand for Charles to take, Cara apologised that he could see her new inkings — a lion on her finger and her initials on her hand. According to the Mail, the pair exchanged a few jokes before Cara cheekily asked the Prince, "Do you have any tattoos?"Cara was joined by her family at the masked event, including her sister Poppy, 26, also a successful model, and their mother Pandora. They joined around 400 guests in the gardens of Charles and Camilla's official London residence. The Elephant Charity was founded by the Duchess of Cornwall's younger brother, Mark Shand and is the biggest funder of the endangered Asian elephant. Both Camilla and Charles sported animal masks in honour of the event; she chose a sparkling elephant mask, while her husband opted for a golden design featuring a tiger.

Mario Testino — who famously took Prince William and Kate Middleton's engagement pictures — also attended the party, and introduced Cara to the Duchess. The famed fashion photographer, who was wearing a feather Mohawk he had designed himself, admitted he would love to photograph the royal baby if asked as he snapped away at the party.

Charles and Camilla spent more than an hour chatting to their guests, including Jerry Hall, Imran Khan and Nancy Dell'Olio. Jerry was keen to talk to the royal couple about the new addition to the family, and said she would urge William and Kate to go for traditional names.

Later on the party moved to neighbouring Lancaster House for the annual fundraising ball, while Charles and Camilla retired back inside Clarence House.
