Kate Middleton and Prince William's number one fan celebrates outside hospital

July 22, 2013

The wait for Kate Middleton and Prince William's firstborn is over, but fans of the royal couple are still crowding outside St Mary's Hospital in London to celebrate Kate giving birth to a baby boy at 4:24pm this afternoon. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's number one fan, lifelong royalist supporter Terry Hutt, has been sleeping outside the private Lindo Wing for the twelfth night running, and was delighted at finally hearing the news of the royal baby's birth. "My wife has said I can stay as long as it takes," said Terry, speaking to HELLO! Online. "I'll be here to give them a cheer when William and Kate walk out. I think they are very special."

The 78-year old has endured the boiling temperatures in his summery Union Jack outfit, which consisted of a sleeveless top, shorts, socks, trainers and hat, all emblazoned with the flag's design.

Terry was prepared for the long wait, though, and was spotted wearing an equally patriotic outfit of a Union Jack suit and tie on cooler days.

While the lifelong royalist brought a handmade sign that said, "Congratulations Prince William, Catherine, hip, hip, hooray," some of the royal couple's other fans arrived at the hospital bearing gifts.

The group of eager teenagers said they couldn't wait for the royal baby's arrival and hoped they would meet the young prince one day. "Once Kate has given birth, we hope she'll be back to volunteer with the Scouts soon, and use this baby carrier to bring the baby with her," they told

Five scouts from Kings Cross explorers, where Kate often volunteers, stopped off at the Lindo Wing to deliver a special present — a baby carrier with "HRH on board" written on the side.
