Prince George of Cambridge already has his first polo mallet. He may only be a few weeks old but the young Prince is already expected to follow in his father's footsteps and have a starring role in the sport of kings. The cute miniature polo mallet was given to Prince William on Saturday after he and his brother Prince Harry led their team to victory in a charity polo match at Coworth Park in Ascot. As William joined his team members for the game's presentation the match's organisers said they had got him a special present. Showing that he is already adapted to his new role as a dad William asked if he was about to be given nappies before excitedly accepting the polo mallet on behalf of his newborn son.
William's appearance at the match was the first time he has officially been seen in public since he stood on the steps of the Lindo wing with Kate Middleton to introduce Prince George to the world on 23 July.William Harry joined Team Quattro in the Audi Polo Challange, a charity polo match at Coworth Park in Ascot which raised money for that charity SkillForce, of which Prince William is patron, and the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, of which he is president.
Before the game new dad William was dressed casually in red trainers and a navy blue shirt with the game's customary white jeans. Prince Harry arrived at Coworth wearing white jeans and a green t-shirt which featured a woman's face.
The royal siblings are experienced polo players and often partake in matches that support charities close to their hearts. Earlier this month William and Harry played a charity match in Gloucestershire which raised money for Centrepoint, WellChild and Bereavement UK.On Friday 2 August the Duke of Cambridge left his wife Kate and their son George at the Middleton's family home in Bucklebury, close to where the Princes played on Saturday, when he made his way to London to officially register Prince George's birth at Kensington Palace.
The first-time father is no doubt busy adjusting to his new parenting role, but as his paternity leave finishes soon, Prince William will have to return to his royal duties and has already confirmed an upcoming royal engagement.
William has said he will go back to Anglesey where he is based as a search and rescue pilot to attend the Anglesey Show in mid-August. The new dad will watch gundog and falconry displays and view some cattle judging before moving to the central show area, where he will make a short speech before being presented with a gift.
