As a former history of art student, Kate is said to have had a significant influence on the design and interior of the 20-room apartment, which belonged to Princess Margaret until her death in 2002.The 31-year-old Duchess is also said to have taken inspiration from Princess Mary of Denmark when she visited Amalienborg Palace in Copenhagen. "Mary showed them around their apartment at the Amelienborg Palace and they loved the way they had combined their collection of modern art with antique furniture," a palace insider told the Sunday Express. "Kate was truly inspired and wants to use some similar ideas in some of the rooms at Kensington Palace."
