They've kept their romance private on low key outings and dinner dates – but now it seems Prince Harry and Cressida Bonas are ready to take the next step. For the first time ever, Harry's pretty girlfriend has joined him at a very public event, supporting him at the launch of the very first WE Day at Wembley Arena.

Though it's unlikely Cressida will walk the red carpet with her Prince, her presence at the event is highly significant – and signifies she may join him at official engagements further down the line.

The pair sat together in the stands of the stadium, where Harry was at one point seen putting his arm round his 24-year-old love.

Harry and Cressida joined celebrities including Ellie Goulding, Dizzee Rascal and Sir Richard Branson at the WE launch on Friday for charity Save the Children. Princess Beatrice also attended with her boyfriend Dave Clark.

In keeping with her low-key style, Cressida wore jeans and sequinned converse shoes for the youth event.

The group at Wembley join the network of 2.3 million WE devotees - young people who are committed to changing the world through social action.

Prince Harry and Cressida have been together since May 2012 after Princess Eugenie introduced them. They tried to keep their relationship under the radar but were soon spotted on low-key dates. When Prince Harry headed to Afghanistan at the end of 2012, they stayed in touch by phone and email.

There were recent rumours that an engagement between the young lovers was on the cards, but these were quickly dismissed by Cressida's half-brother Jacobi Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe as "ludicrous".However Cressida's presence at the WE event this week will no doubt have royal watchers hoping that a special announcement might in fact be forthcoming.

Princess Beatrice and her boyfriend Dave Clark were also at the launch of WE Day

Thousands of school children are also on hand for the event, which aims to educate, inspire and empower 12,000 student leaders to take action on local and global causes close to their hearts.
