Duchess Kate channels her inner beach babe as she jogs in Manly

April 18, 2014

Prince William and Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton, visited the Sydney, Australia suburb of Manly on Good Friday.Following on from an earlier Royal Easter Show, the royals took in the fresh air of the beach community and Catherine was even seen taking what looked like a light jog by the waterside. The brunette wasn’t afraid to let her tresses blow in the mist as she pounded her feet on the sand, maneouvring the tricky ground texture by treading along quickly.

The royal couple had travelled a short distance from a hospice to Manly Beach, where they watched a display of life-saving skills and helped celebrate the work of surf life-saving volunteers. Between them, it's estimated the volunteers at Manly have saved 200 lives every year for the last 25 years.

The community recently revealed they were crafting a surfboard for Prince George who was not present for this outing as he was catching up on some much-deserved rest. Kate told a surfer she wished her son could have come along that day but he was asleep when they went out to continue the tour.

However crowds were seen holding up a portrait of the baby with a backdrop of Sydney Harbour, which no doubt impressed his parents. The water-loving workers were all dressed in pink tops, red Queens cliff briefs and a co-ordinating swimming cap with blue stripe across the middle.

It lightened up the mood after they had visited Bear Cottage, a children's hospice which does amazing work with youngsters. The children have life-limiting conditions and the hospice provides help to families too.

It's the only children's hospice in New South Wales - a real pioneer in Australia - and a very warm, colourful and remarkably happy place for families going through some very difficult times.

The Duchess was very keen to learn from Australian providers of children's palliative care, and to share her thoughts from her work with EACH.
