Prince William echoes DJ dad Prince Charles — like father, like son

Prince William instantly brought back memories of his father Prince Charles when he was pictured learning how to DJ on the royal tour in Australia.

The 31-year-old — along with his wife the Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton — was paying a visit to the Northern Sound System in Adelaide, a youth focused community music centre.

Wearing a navy suit and pink tie, William stepped up to the challenge and tried his hand at spinning the decks. While the royal had less success than his wife Kate, the second-in-line to the throne still looked to be enjoying the experience.

As he tentatively tried mixing tracks, William echoed his father Prince Charles who is no stranger to the mixing deck. Back in 2001 and 2003, Prince Charles was pictured having a go at spinning tunes.

On his latest attempt in 2003, Prince Charles and his eldest son were making a joint visit to Nash, a homeless day centre in Newport, Wales. The father-son duo were welcomed by DJ Floyd D to the mixing deck.

As Prince Charles listened in with his headphones on, William — who was marking his 21st birthday — stood next to his dad, smiling and encouraging him in his musical endeavour.

Prince Charles seemed to have much more control compared to his previous DJ attempt in 2001 when he opened the Centrepoint shelter for homeless people in Lambeth, south London. The 65-year-old royal was pictured furrowing his brow and then breaking into a gleeful smile as he was shown the ropes by mentee Darren Watson.

Prince William and Kate are currently nearing the end of their royal tour of Australia. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have spent almost three-weeks abroad in the country and neighbouring New Zealand with their nine-month-old son Prince George.

William's own parents Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana had made the same trip thirty one years ago when William was the same age as his son.

William and Kate echoed Charles and Diana in 1983

Earlier this week William and Kate echoed Charles and Diana when they travelled to the iconic Ayers Rock.

As the Duke and Duchess arrived at the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, William sported a fawn-hued shirt with the sleeves rolled up and the top button causally undone, with a pair of light coloured chinos — a modern update on Charles' untucked shirt and matching trouser outfit from 1983.

Kate wore a patterned Hobbs dress and a casual pair of nude wedges, which she fashioned with a white belt. This was reminiscent of Diana's pale button-up dress, which was also accessorised with a white belt and flat nude shoes.
