The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's beloved pet dog Lupo has already had his fair share of fame, but now the black cocker spaniel is to feature in a series of children's books and toys. The adorable canine will play a starring role in The Adventures of a Royal Dog: Lupo and The Secret of Windsor Castle, written by Aby King. While the London-based author has never met Prince William or Kate and their ten-month-old Prince George, the royal family has served as Aby's inspiration. According to the book's description, the story centres on "the loyal bond between Lupo and the baby prince."

Aby herself has a spaniel Lilly — who she describes as "Lupo's girlfriend" — and often enjoys walks with her pet in Kensington Gardens, much like Kate and Lupo. "I'd seen in the papers that Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge now had their very own Lilly — a black cocker spaniel named Lupo — and I started to think about what life as a royal puppy, with palaces and parks at your disposal, might be like," Aby told MailOnline. "I began to see the scope for mystery and adventure — secret passageways and tunnels in royal palaces, portals to other times," she said. "A royal menagerie of characters began to form in my head."
The children's book will focus on the "loyal bond" between Prince George and Lupo
The book tells of Lupo trying to win back his reputation after he is embroiled in a "web of a terrible crime," according to the official description. "Cyrus the swan has been attacked, and some precious royal treasure stolen," it says. "Lupo is innocent but his reputation is in tatters. Can he prove his innocence? Meanwhile, his rival, Vulcan the corgi is plotting to take over the realm.
"Animals take sides in a classic battle of good versus evil, involving journeys through underground tunnels, down the hallowed corridors of historic palaces, and in the staterooms of the most important people of the land. At the heart of this story is the loyal bond between Lupo and the baby prince."
Prince William, Kate, the Queen and other members of the royal family all make an appearance in the book, although it is focused mainly on the royal animals. It will be released in September, followed by three further stories and a range of merchandise to follow. Aby looked to be finishing her second book last month as she tweeted a photo of herself curled up on the floor next to her pet dogs. "Fast asleep with the hounds... Nearly finished Book 2 – exhausted," she captioned the black and white shot.
