Duchess Kate to make special visit to historic Bletchley Park

June is shaping up to be a busy month for the Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton, with an additional engagement added to her diary. It has been confirmed that she will visit Bletchley Park on Wednesday 18 June. Prince William’s wife will visit the historic site – the UK’s codebreaking centre during the Second World War – to mark the completion of a year-long restoration project, which has returned Bletchley Park to its World War II appearance.While there, the Duchess will meet with WWII codebreaker veterans and hear about their achievements, as well as touring the WWII Codebreaking Huts.

She will be escorted on the tour of Bletchley by Sir John Scarlett, Chairman of the Bletchley Park Trust, and Iain Standen, Chief Executive Office of the Bletchley Park Trust.

Kate, 32, will then plant a tree to commemorate her visit to the site.

The £8million Heritage Lottery-funded restoration project will allow visitors to experience what it was like for the Codebreakers at Bletchley Park.The news that the Duchess will visit the site comes days after her appearance at two other events was confirmed. On 10 June, she will attend the launch of the America’s Cup at the National Martime Museum in Greenwich. Two days later, she will be among the guests at a Buckingham Palace garden party to mark the 150th anniversary of the British Red Cross.
