Queen Rania of Jordan brimmed with pride as her eldest son Crown Prince Hussein marked a new chapter of his life – turning 20 and leaving his teenage years behind. In celebration of the future king of Jordan's big day, Queen Rania posted a photo of her son on Twitter and Instagram, much to the delight of her 3.2million followers. "Happy Birthday to my eldest, my pride, my joy #HappyBirthday #Son #LoveJo," wrote the mother-of-four alongside the snap.
In the picture, Hussein, who holds the rank of first lieutenant in the Jordanian Armed Forces and has previously accompanied his father King Abdullah II on military missions, looked every inch the fitting heir and professional soldier.

The two big family celebrations in June seemed to have sparked a sense of nostalgia with the queen, as she took to Instagram to post a few more throwback photos from years gone by. In one snap, Queen Rania showed off her youngest daughter Princess Salma, who looked adorable aged three, blowing a kiss up to her mother. "My precious Salma at 3 years old, now a young teenager and more precious with every day #LoveJO#TBT #ThrowBackThursday," wrote the royal.

The photos showed just how quickly time has passed since Queen Rania's children were mere youngsters. Crown Prince Hussein was 15 when he was given his said title and role, a position which had not been occupied since 2004.
