Princess Amalia of Luxembourg will be baptised at 10am on Saturday 12 July, according to the royal palace. The christening will take place at the Chapelle de Saint-Ferréol in Lorgues – the French city in Var that baby Amalia and her parents Prince Félix and Princess Claire call home. The beautiful couple have chosen Félix's younger sister Princess Alexandra, 23, to be a godmother, and Claire's older brother, also named Felix, to be a godfather.

Other Luxembourg royals who will witness the baptism include Grand Duke Jean and Félix's siblings – his older brother Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and his wife Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie, Félix's younger brother Prince Louis and his wife Princess Tessy, as well as 22-year-old Prince Sébastien. Princess Amalia, who will be baptised by Father Yves Menjot and who has been named after her grandmothers, was born on 15 June at the Grand-Duchesse Charlotte Maternity Wing at the Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg. "The young princess will bear the names Amalia, Gabriela, Maria Teresa," read a statement released by the royal palace. "She weighed 2.95kg and measured 50cm at birth." Two days after her birth, Félix and Claire took baby Amalia home and proudly shared photos of their little bundle of joy dressed in a pink-and-white hand-smocked dress.

Second-in-line to the throne Félix and Claire, née Claire Lademacher, married in September of last year. The pair tied the knot in Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume's magnificent 13th century Sainte Marie-Madeleine basilica. It was the second wedding ceremony for the duo who had exchanged vows in an intimate civil wedding ceremony in the German town of Königstein, near the bride's home city of Frankfurt.
