Prince George's first birthday photographer: 'He's quick on his feet'

July 20, 2014

Prince George's latest official portrait shows the royal darling walking unaided by his parents Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton, but just how speedily the toddler can "charge" came as a surprise to his photographer. "He's quick on his feet," Press Association photographer John Stillwell told People. "He was walking towards me – I was kneeling down to take the picture and he was on top of me as soon as he started walking. "He was very quick. He looked really steady on his feet."

John added: "Prince George was very lively and very sure of himself and confident – a very determined young boy." While the photographer remarked that George, who is third-in-line to the throne, resembled his father, royal watchers have been divided over who the tot looks like.

George, who will celebrate his birthday at home at Kensington Palace on Tuesday, melted hearts when he was pictured at his latest photoshoot, which took place at the Sensational Butterflies exhibit in London's Natural History Museum on 2 July. With his hands outstretched and a sweet smile on his face, George couldn't have looked cuter in his navy T-shirt and striped pair of dungarees from French children's clothing label Petit Bateau.

Prince George quiz: How well do you know the royal baby?Priced at £27.65 on the brand's website, the dungarees immediately sold out when the picture of George was released on Saturday evening. No doubt that the little Prince will have enjoyed his fun jaunt to the butterfly house. George will have come face to face with the colourful creatures and for an inquisitive little boy, who showed his fascination at wildlife at Sydney's Taronga Zoo last April, the visit will have been an eye-opener. As Kate is royal patron of the iconic London museum, it made only perfect sense for the Duchess to choose the location for her firstborn's birthday photoshoot.
