Duke and Duchess of Cambridge opt for a UK holiday break

August 1, 2014

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton, will reportedly take a month-long holiday in the UK this month.

The royal pair and their one-year-old son Prince George have picked Prince William's father's home in the Highlands for their annual break.Prince Charles

Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall will be there as well, and it is thought that William and Kate will also spend time with the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh at Balmoral.

They will also spend much of their time in Norfolk, where the final refurbishments are taking place at Anmer Hall, their new home on the Queen’s Sandringham Estate.

Speaking to Vanity Fair magazine, a source revealed: "They will be at Anmer for much of the time they have off. They cannot wait to move in and they want to make sure the last stages of the refurb go to plan."

William and Kate recently visited Scotland for the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games where Kate couldn't hide her emotions as they watched boxing, gymnastics, and hockey. Sitting alongside William and her brother-in-law Prince Harry, Kate winced, laughed, and held her hands tight in suspense as she took in the action.

An avid hockey fan, sporty Kate was hockey captain of her school team, and in 2012 she took part in a training session at the Olympic hockey arena with Team GB athletes. William and Kate also visited the country late in May, for their first joint public engagement since the royal tour of Australia and New Zealand.

The couple's first stop was the Strathearn Community Campus - which houses a school, community library and indoor and outdoor sporting facilities. Prince George was left at home with his nanny.

While in the country William and Kate are known as the Earl and Countess of Strathearn, and the trip was the first time they had graced the region since they were given the titles on the occasion of their April 2011 wedding.
