Ellie Goulding is to perform at Prince Harry's birthday party on Wednesday night, according to multiple sources. The Burn singer, who is good friends with Harry, Prince William and Kate, jumped at the opportunity to sing at the royal bash, which has reportedly been organised by the Duchess of Cambridge. "Kate knows Harry is a big fan of Ellie and wanted her to be part of the evening," an insider told The Sun. "It's a high compliment for her, especially because she is such a fan of Harry and the work that he does."

The source added: "Ellie said yes straight away and has agreed to perform whatever Harry fancies on the night. It's going to be a really intimate acoustic set. Harry will love it." The prince, who turned 30 on Monday, most recently showed his enthusiasm for Ellie when he booked her in to perform at the Invictus Games on Sunday night – the Paralympic-style sporting event he launched for wounded servicemen and women. Ellie, 27, rocked the stage at the closing ceremony as she performed her classic hits in a black mini top and white patterned trousers. The blonde beauty was later spotted hugging Harry backstage as he congratulated her on her crowd-jumping set.

"Then I got a phone call suggesting there might be something in the offing, but I didn't tell anyone for a long time. I wasn't told to stay quiet, but I thought it best to keep things under my hat."
