Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwallwill visit Mexico and Colombia this October, following in Prince Harry's footsteps to Brazil and Chile earlier in 2014.
The trip was at the request of the British Government, following invitations from President Juan Manuel Santos Calderón of Colombia and President Enrique Peña Nieto of Mexico, and it is hoped that the visit will be a major boost to the relationship between the UK and these influential Latin American nations.
The pair will arrive in Colombia's capital Bogota on 28 October, where they will attend an official banquet, before taking part in events that focus on the country's traditional arts and crafts, historical architecture, organic food and wool, trade and investment.
The Duchess of Cornwall will also attend a meeting made up of charity and Government representatives which work on various initiatives in the field of preventing sexual violence in conflict, while Prince Charles will visit the Macarena National Park in southern Colombia to discuss the sustainability of marine culture.
After the five-day visit in Colombia the royals will head to Mexico, where they will visit the ancient Edzna Maya archaeological site and will learn about restoration of the ruins. They will also visit Real de Monte, one of Mexico's first mining towns which has a strong historical connection to Cornwall, of which Charles is also the Duke.
It was also revealed on Friday that Prince Harry will attend a gala this October that brings together two of his patronages, Wellchild and 100 Women in Hedge Funds.
The gala will take place on 16 October at the Royal Chelsea Hospital. 100 Women in Hedge Funds is a leading non-profit organisation for professionals in the alternative investments industry, and partnered with Wellchild, a charity which helps sick and disabled children across the UK.
