Prince Guillaume of Luxembourg turns 33: ten facts about the royal

Prince Guillaume of Luxembourg celebrates his 33rd birthday on 11 November. The Hereditary Grand Duke is expected to mark the occasion surrounded by close family and friends. To mark Guillaume's big day, HELLO! Online has gathered a list of ten facts about the prince.

Prince Guillaume of Luxembourg attended university in England

1. Guillaume was born on 11 November 1981, at the Grand Duchess Charlotte Maternity, the first child of Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa. 2. The prince also has four younger siblings: Prince Félix, Prince Louis, Princess Alexandra and Prince Sébastien. 3. During his education, the royal spent time studying in the United Kingdom including University College, Durham and Brunel University in London. 4. In 2000, Guillaume became first-in-line to the throne when his father ascended the throne.

5. As a senior royal, the prince travels the world representing Luxembourg at state events. Guillaume has attended celebrations including Prince Christian of Denmark's christening in January 2006 and King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands's 40th birthday in September 2007. 6. In April 2012, it was announced that the Hereditary Grand Duke was engaged to Belgian-born Countess Stéphanie de Lannoy. 7. Six months later, surrounded by royals from around the world including the Earl and Countess of Wessex, Guillaume and Stephanie married in a two-day celebration. The joyous occasion included a civil wedding followed by a religious ceremony a day later.

8. The couple's wedding was described as the "largest event in decades" for Luxembourg and their royal family. Over the two days, celebrations included fireworks, concerts and street fairs. 9. Guillaume's full royal title is 'His Royal Highness Prince Guillaume Jean Joseph Marie, Hereditary Grand-Duke of Luxembourg, Hereditary Prince of Nassau, Prince of Bourbon-Parma'. 10. The royal shares his birthday with Hollywood stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Demi Moore.
