November 26, 2014

Prince William has revealed that he and his wife the Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton, are avid Homeland fans. The royal was making the comment to the show's protagonist Damian Lewis, as he awarded the actor with an OBE. Damian, who was told he was going to be included in the Queen's 2014 Birthday Honours List last June, was being commended for his services to drama. The 43-year-old star is best known for his role as Sergeant Nicholas Brody on the American drama, which sees him return as a turned prisoner of war to the US.

Damian Lewis said it was a 'big, big surprise' to be awarded an OBE

Speaking about his chat with William, Damian revealed: "He said 'Catherine and I are huge Homeland fans'. "He said 'you appeared again the other night briefly, and we all got very excited,' which is true, but it was also on Sunday night which means he is absolutely up to date with the latest episode and I'm amazed they have time for that." The latest episode saw Damian's character return briefly as a hallucination, after being killed off in the season three finale.

The actor also opened up about the moment he discovered he had been nominated for the prestigious award. "I was stupefied, I had no idea, so it was a big, big surprise," said Damian, after the investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace. "I remember when I heard I was being awarded it, it was a little bit like 'now you've got to prove it'. It was a bit like being asked to be a prefect, now I have to be extremely responsible."
