Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton, didn't waste any time in kicking off their Big Apple adventure, stepping out on Sunday evening to attend a private dinner at a Manhattan apartment in Gramercy park. The royal couple, who arrived in New York on Sunday afternoon 4.37pm local time, smiled warmly and waved to the crowds as they were pictured leaving the dinner, which was held on behalf of the American Friends of their Royal Foundation and attended by thirty hedge fund managers and financiers.

Duchess Kate, who is currently five months pregnant with her second child, was stunning in a black lace knee-length dress by one of her favourite labels, Beulah.

A pair of long dazzling earrings, a black clutch bag and black high heels completed the pregnant royal's look, plus her trademark brunette curls that she wore loose around her shoulders. Prince William, meanwhile, wore a royal blue suit, white shirt and blue patterned tie.

The glamorous evening with cocktail reception is expected to raise funds for the couple's foundation, which helps children and young people, veterans and military families and promotes conservation and sustainable development. On Monday, the pair will go their separate ways. William is set to travel to Washington, D.C. where he will be welcomed to the White House by America's President Barack Obama and attend an anti-corruption conference at the World Bank to discuss a zero-tolerance policy for the transportation across borders of illegal wildlife.

Kate will remain in New York where she will be accompanied by Chirlane McCray, the First Lady of New York City, to visit a local child development centre.Upon their arrival to New York, William and Kate were greeted by excited crowds at the legendary Carlyle Hotel on the Upper East Side, where the couple will call home for the duration of their stay. Some had driven for miles to welcome Prince George's parents, some as far as Idaho, over 2,000 miles away.
