The couple have faced increasing speculation that they are planning to tie the knot in recent weeks, with one report claiming that they had got engaged on a New Year holiday in St Barts.

However HELLO! Online can confirm that the 26-year-old Princess is not engaged.

According to a now-discredited report in Grazia, 31-year-old Dave had been planning to propose "for months" before getting down on one knee during their Caribbean holiday.

Princess Beatrice and Dave Clark are not engaged

"Dave has wanted to ask Beatrice to marry him for some time and has been planning it for months. He had originally intended to do it back in October, but then work got incredibly busy after the tragic Virgin Galactic crash, so he decided to wait and did it on holiday instead," a source told the magazine.

A friend of Dave's also said that he hadn't proposed and told Royal Watch that Dave had "denied the story".

"They were on holiday, but he says he didn't ask her to marry him," they said.

Another friend added: "We did think that Beatrice might come home with a ring on her finger, but it doesn't seem to be the case."

The couple have been dating for over seven years

Virgin Galactic executive Dave has been dating Princess Beatrice for over seven years. The couple met after being introduced by Beatrice's cousin, Prince William, who knew Dave from his time studying at St Andrews University in Scotland.

News of an engagement would reportedly be "very welcome" by Beatrice's parents Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson as they "both like Dave very much".
