Just days after Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary headed off for their annual family skiing holiday in Switzerland, the Danish heir's younger brother Prince Joachim and his wife Princess Marie were spotted out on the slopes too.
Joachim and Marie took their children to Villars – a Swiss village located just an hour's drive away from where their royal relatives were staying.
Enjoying a break from their royal duties and taking advantage of the school holidays, Joachim and Marie couldn't have looked happier to be surrounded by their energetic brood.

Paris-born Marie kept a watchful eye over her youngest child, three-year-old Athena, as she tried her hand at skiing solo in the children's area. The doting mum at first held on to her daughter's ski suit and helped her position her skis, but then encouraged little Athena to glide down the gentle slope by herself.
The highlight of the family outing looked to be a horse-drawn ride around the mountains, which saw the four children Prince Nikolai, Prince Felix, Prince Henrik and Princess Athena stand on a sledge as they were pulled along by a horse.

While the youngsters lit up the slopes in their brightly coloured ski outfits, Joachim and Marie, who have been married for nearly seven years, coordinated in grey outdoor wear.
The couple are parents to Henrik and Athena, while Nikolai and Felix are the prince's two children from his previous marriage to Alexandra Christina, Countess of Frederiksborg.
The Danish royal family often spend their annual skiing holiday in Villars, Switzerland
The family of six regularly chooses Villars as their annual skiing destination, while Frederik and Mary opt for Verbier – the resort town favoured by other royals and celebrities including Prince William and Prince Harry, their cousins Beatrice and Eugenie, and the Beckham family.
The holiday came shortly after Marie turned 39 last week – one day after her sister-in-law Mary celebrated her 43rd birthday.
