The Duchess's comments came as she tried her hand at painting part of a mural during a visit to the construction site of Ben Ainslie Racing and the 1851 Trust headquarters. Duchess of Cambridge reveals Prince George is a fan of swimming After meeting some of the local artists and students from six nearby schools who created the mural on the wall surrounding the site, Kate added her own design to an image of a boat.

Sailing fan Kate, who crewed a yacht on a round-the-world trip during her gap year, was keen to show her support for the 1851 Trust – an organisation which aims to inspire and engage a new generation through sailing and the marine industry. Prince William's wife was also excited to see the progress of Ben Ainslie Racing HQ which aims to bring the America's Cup home to Britain.

After her morning at the Trust, the Duchess is set to head to a reception at the Spinnaker Tower with Ben, where they will meet community leaders and local ambassadors. Invitees at the event will include teachers and students from City College in Southampton, who are building the two specialist 'Docking Rib' boats to help with docking the America's Cup boats in Portsmouth.
