Prince Carl Philip and Sofia Hellqvist step out in the snow as the four month countdown to their wedding begins

Prince Carl Philip and Sofia Hellqvist looked as loved-up as ever as they undertook a snowy engagement on Wednesday night. The couple, who are set to tie the knot in four months, both beamed with joy as they attended the opening ceremony of the Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun, Sweden.To protect themselves from the cold weather, the Swedish prince and his fiancée sported matching blue jackets and beanie hats emblazoned with the country's flag.

Sofia and Carl Philip linked arms at the engagement

Former model Sofia, who wore her glossy brunette locks in loose waves, added a touch of glamour to her practical outfit with brown wedge heels.Täby-born Sofia was joined by her future mother-in-law Queen Silvia and sister-in-law Princess Victoria who both also sported the branded blue jackets.Sofia's other sister-in-law-to-be Princess Madeleine did not attend the event. Madeleine is currently pregnant with her second child and due to give birth around the date of Sofia and Carl Philip's wedding in June.

The couple will marry on 13 June

As the year of her nuptials got underway, Sofia spoke of her excitement at joining the Swedish royal family and how she had been welcomed by them."It has been speculated that I wasn't embraced by the family, but it was the opposite," she said in January, adding that the first time she met the king and queen was at Solliden Palace where they had a "charming lunch".Carl Philip interjected that Silvia "gave Sofia a big hug", while the brunette beauty confirmed, "I felt welcome from day one and nothing else."

Sofia also addressed her time as a model and her appearance on a Swedish reality show – which caused some controversy among royal watchers. "Much has been written [about it] over the years, not only following our engagement," she said. "For me it's pretty boring, it happened ten years ago and I moved on with my life."But no regrets, all experiences build a person, although I wouldn't do it now if you asked me," she added, laughing: "I can say I have lived life 100 per cent."
