Princess Victoria and daughter Estelle sport matching coats for name day celebrations in Stockholm

March 12, 2015

Princess Estelle joined her mum Princess Victoria on Thursday as the pair celebrated Victoria Day in Stockholm. The Swedish mother-daughter duo sported matching purple coats for the occasion, delighting the crowd of royal fans who had gathered in the courtyard of the city's Royal Palace. Enthusiastic Estelle, who turned three on 23 February, smiled, clapped and waved for the well-wishers showing their support for the crown princess's name day. Sporting a cream woollen hat and mittens, white tights and metallic boots, the little princess cuddled up to her mother and sat on her knee.

Notably absent from proceedings was Prince Daniel, who has been at his wife Victoria's side on her special day since their wedding in June 2010. "He had to do other things today unfortunately" said Sweden's future queen, jokingly adding about Estelle: "But I am in good company, right?" The 37-year-old, who is the eldest child of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden, said that it was "fantastic" that so many had turned out to wish her well as said she "very spoiled" by all the flowers and messages of congratulations.

A band played Princess Victoria's festive march, which was composed of Army Band's music director Mats Janhagen and first played on the Crown Princess's 18th birthday. The band played a drum salute and a rendition of ABBA classic Does Your Mother Know before the concert ended with a round of cheers for Victoria and a fanfare.

Estelle and her mum recently enjoyed a day out together at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championship. Making sure that she got a good view of all the sporting action, Estelle sat in Victoria's arms as she cheered on her country's team and waved a Swedish flag.
