Princess Beatrice holds her own amongst fashion's elite at McQueen exhibition

March 13, 2015

Princess Beatrice is one of the most fashion-forward members of the royal family. She put in a truly show-stopping appearance as she stepped out for the Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibition in London this week, where she mingled with some of the industry's biggest names. The 26-year-old honoured the late designer by wearing one of his designs, a black tuxedo gown that featured a daring slash to the thigh. She completed her flawless look with a pair of cutout black stilettoes, a sequinned butterfly clip in her red hair, smokey eye make-up and bright red lipstick.

Beatrice's glamorous new look was reminiscent of a Fifties Hollywood star and she looked perfectly at home at the high-fashion event, which was attended by the likes of Kate Moss, Victoria Beckham, Naomi Campbell and Salma Hayek. The royal is a good friend of supermodel Kate, who stole the show both on the red carpet and inside the exhibition. Kate, 41, arrived on the arm of her husband Jamie Hince wearing a sheer black lace McQueen dress over a matching bodysuit. Her 3D holographic image, meanwhile, took pride of place inside the event alongside around 240 of the late designer’s most iconic creations.

The Savage Beauty exhibition will run at the V&A from 14 March until 2 August, and is the first and largest retrospective of Alexander McQueen's work to be presented in Europe. It showcases the late designer's visionary work, spanning his 1992 MA graduate collection right through to his unfinished A/W 2010 collection. Alexander took his own life in February 2010 – but his work lives on through his successor, and former assistant, Sarah Burton. "Lee was a genius and a true visionary who pushed boundaries, challenged and inspired," she said. "He believed in creativity and innovation and his talent was limitless. "Savage Beauty is a celebration of the most imaginative and talented designer of our time."
