The Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton, will soon begin her maternity leave ahead of the birth of her second child. Kate attended one of her final public engagements at a St Patrick's Day Parade on Tuesday, following an active pregnancy that has seen her make a number of appearances both in the UK and New York.

Since announcing her second pregnancy in September, both Kate and Prince William have spoken openly about their excitement at welcoming a little brother or sister for Prince George – leading to some memorable quotes about their impending arrival.

Kate reportedly bonded with Beyoncé Knowles by discussing their children:

"Bey and Kate talked about their kids," an eyewitness told E! News. "They asked each other, 'How old is yours?' They basically bonded over motherhood."

William jokes with President Obama that he forgot to ask whether Prince George was a boy or girl when he was born:

"Last time, I remember when George was born, I forgot to work out whether it was a boy or a girl. The excitement of the event and everything else was just chaos. You are suddenly... well actually it's a boy. So now, it's good." "It's going to be interesting next year. A busy year next year."

Kate expresses her happiness at being able to attend her first engagement after suffering from morning sickness: "I've been looking forward to getting out of the house, that's for sure."
