Prince William and Kate ready to welcome royal baby in London

April 22, 2015

Everything is set and ready to go at Prince William and Kate's royal household, with the couple preparing to welcome their second baby any day now. The hospital bags are packed for the quick dash to St Mary's Hospital in Paddington, London, not far from the couple's home at Kensington Palace.

The pair have stayed in the capital since Sunday and have been using their palatial home, Apartment 1A, as their base before Kate gives birth.

Prior to this the pregnant Duchess was spending time with her parents Michael and Carole Middleton in Bucklebury, Berkshire, where Kate grew up. The royal has also been enjoying her maternity leave at her country house, Anmer Hall, in Norfolk.

Prince William and Kate are back in London, ready to welcome their second baby

It seems that Kate has been keen to spend as much alone time as possible with her toddler Prince George, before her next Prince or Princess is born. Kate was recently spotted taking her 20-month-old to Snettisham Park, a farm and petting zoo just a short drive from Anmer Hall.

William, 32, is also at his wife's side, having officially started his paternity leave earlier than predicted. The second-in-line to the throne, who works for the East Anglian Air Ambulance Service, has completed the first phase of his air ambulance pilot training, a spokesperson for Kensington Palace confirmed earlier this week.

William and Kate aren't the only ones who are ready and waiting. Prince Harry is on his way back from Australia to the UK, where he has been on secondment with the British Army.

As patron of the London Marathon Charitable Trust, Harry will attend the marathon this Sunday, and will hopefully be able to meet his niece or nephew if the royal baby arrives before then.

Final security checks and preparations have been made at the Lindo Wing, where Kate will give birth

Kate's younger siblings James and Pippa are also in London, having timed their holidays to end before the Duchess gives birth. James and his girlfriend Donna Air were enjoying a mini-break in Los Angeles but returned a few days ago, while Pippa was visiting her boyfriend Nico Jackson in Geneva, where the stockbroker works, last weekend.

The hospital where Kate will be admitted has also been making final preparations. Security forces were seen sweeping the exterior area, particularly around the exclusive Lindo Wing where Kate will give birth, just like she did with George in 2013.
