William and Kate's extra special wedding anniversary gift

April 29, 2015

Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton, could have a wedding anniversary to remember on Wednesday. Not only are they celebrating four years together as man and wife, but they could also welcome their second child into the world.

William and Kate tied the knot in a lavish ceremony that captivated audiences around the world on 29 April 2011. Thousands lined the streets for their first glimpse of the beautiful bride en route to Westminster Abbey on that Friday morning, and now four years on the scene is set to be recreated, as the world's press and royal enthusiasts gather outside the Lindo Wing in the hope that Kate will go into labour on Wednesday.

The scenes outside St Mary's Hospital are also set to be reminiscent of Prince George's birth on 22 July 2013. William marked the occasion by treating his wife to a stunning brooch adorned with a pink diamond. While tradition suggests fruit and flowers are fitting gifts for one's fourth wedding anniversary, a healthy baby could be the greatest gift of all for the royal couple.

Wednesday is now the favourite date for the birth of William and Kate's second child, with Betfair suspending betting on an anniversary baby after an influx of bets.

The date also marks the 50th birthday of Kate's uncle Gary Goldsmith, who recently suggested to HELLO! magazine that the couple will not stop at two children, and will hopefully welcome more siblings for George in the future.

William and Kate said their wedding vows in front of a 1,900-strong congregation at Westminster Abbey, with a further 24 million viewers tuning in to watch in the UK alone.

The couple are expected to mark their fourth wedding anniversary privately at their home in Kensington Palace, but if Kate were to go into labour it would give them double the reasons to celebrate, both this year and in the years to come.
