Since being welcomed into the world at 8:34 am on 2 May, royal watchers everywhere have been eager to share in the joy of Charlotte's arrival. Less than 10 hours after she gave birth, the Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton, stepped out with Prince William on the steps of the Lindo Wing at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington to present her new baby to the waiting media and fans.Similarly to when they welcomed Prince George Wiliam and Kate were keen to retreat away from London and spent four days at their residence in the captial, Kensington Palace.

Before the couple and their children headed to their country house Anmer Hall on the Sandringham Estate, however, it was time for Charlotte's doting grandparents to meet the new addition to the family.Carole Middleton and Pippa Middleton arrived at the Palace early on 3 May, shortly followed by Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall. Proud grandfather Michael Middleton later joined the gorup of proud relations.Granddad Charles, who visited Charlotte twice in three days shortly after her birth, has voiced his joy at having a granddaughter.

During a visit to Poundbury, Charles said son's youngest was "very beautiful", later adding "I really was hoping for a girl."The Queen has also epxressed her enthusiasm at having another female in the family."We love having another girl," she told well-wishers at a Buckingham Palace garden party.

Prince Harry, who has yet to meet his niece, has received many presents for her during his tour of New Zealand

William and Kate headed to the Duchess's home town of Bucklebury in Berkshire when George was born, where it was proud grandfather Michael Middleton who captured the newborn Prince's first official photos. This time they have chosen the Norfolk home to be their base, after renovating it extensively over the past year.It is therefore somewhat doubtful that Michael will take Princess Charlotte's first official pictures, although royal fans will more likely be hoping they don't have to wait too long to see new images of the little Princess, rather than wondering who will be behind the lens.
