Prince Joachim of Denmark celebrates his 46th birthday on 7 June. To honour the Danish royal’s birthday, HELLO! Online has gathered a list of ten facts you may not have known about Crown Prince Frederik's younger brother.1. The Danish royal was born on 7 June 1969 as the second son of Queen Margrethe II and Prince Henrik of Denmark, after Prince Frederik.

2. During his early educational years the prince spent time as a private pupil at Amalienborg Palace from 1974 to 1976, before attending Krebs' Skole in Copenhagen from 1976 until 1982. He also spent time as a boarder at Ecole des Roches in Normandy, France, from 1982 to 1983.3. The prince's mother tongue is Danish, although he is also fluent in French, English and German.

4. His official royal title is 'His Royal Highness Prince Joachim of Denmark, Count of Monpezat'. Joachim is currently sixth-in-line for the Danish throne, behind his brother, Prince Frederik and his four children.5. Joachim shares his June birthday with singers Prince and Iggy Azalea, and Taken star Liam Neeson.

6. In 1995 he married Alexandra Christina Manley at Frederiksborg Palace Church near Copenhagen. Four years later they welcomed their first son, Prince Nikolai, with Prince Felix following in 2002. In September 2004, however, Joachim and Alexandra announced their plans to separate and a year later their divorce was finalised.The couple remained close friends and share custody of their two sons.

7. Three years later in October 2007, there was celebration across Denmark as it was announced Prince Joachim had become engaged to Marie Cavallier. Seven months later the couple married in a stunning ceremony, attended by royals from around the world.

8. A year later, Prince Joachim became a father for the third time as Marie, who is now titled Princess Marie of Denmark, gave birth to the couple's first child Prince Henrik, who was followed by the prince's first daughter, Princess Athena who was in born in January 2012.9. The prince often represents Denmark around the world at important events and attended the wedding of Prince Edward and the Countess of Wessex at Windsor Castle in June 1999.

10. Joachim has received many foreign honours including the Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Crown from the Netherlands and the Commander Grand Cross of the Order of the Polar Star from Sweden.
