Before beginning her charmed life as a royal, Crown Princess Mary of Denmark was an accomplished executive in the world of marketing and advertising, based in her native Australia. One of the companies she worked for was ad agency Mojo Partners, when she was Miss Mary Donaldson.

During her two-year stint there, Mary featured in one of their commercials for public transport service V/Line.

Some 20 years have passed but a video of the old advert has now surfaced, showing Mary playing a role as a commuter.

Princess Mary of Denmark worked in advertising before she became a royal

The wife of Crown Prince Frederik – the heir to the Danish throne – is pictured sitting on a train and reading a newspaper, looking like an everyday passenger. The image is a far cry from the glam life Mary now leads in her adoptive country of Denmark.

She first met her future husband during the 2000 Sydney Olympics, while the prince was attending the sporting event Down Under. The couple are said to have met at the Slip Inn, a pub in the city, and quietly started dating.

Three years later Frederik proposed to his Australian love and the couple's engagement and wedding were the subject of extensive attention from royal fans and the media, who portrayed the marriage as a modern "fairytale" romance between a "prince and a commoner".

Mary, 43, and Frederik, 47, went on to have four children together, including twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine.

According to recent reports on Twitter, the little princess was injured in a horse riding accident over the weekend and has broken her arm. She was spotted wearing a cast while leaving hospital, which had been signed by well-wishers.
