August 18, 2015

Prince Harry will undertake official visits to America, South Africa and Lesotho later this year. Following on from his hugely successful tour of the United States in 2013, the Prince will arrive in Washington DC at the end of October to attend promotional events for his Invictus Games, which are heading to Orlando in 2016.He will then visit South Africa and Lesotho from 26th November until the 4th December. Lesotho in particular is very dear to Harry's heart. In 2006, he co-founded his charity Sentebale with Prince Seeiso of Lesotho - and he is returning there later this year on behalf of the charity to officially open their Mamohato Children's Centre, a flagship facility to help Sentebale support thousands of children living with HIV.

The 30-year-old royal has closely monitored the development of the Mamohato Centre. In early 2013, he visited the land upon which it has been built, and in late 2014 he returned to Lesotho to view the building progress.

Harry's visit to South Africa is at the request of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, and will see him carry out a programme of engagements on behalf of HM Government. "I am delighted to be welcoming Prince Harry on an official visit to South Africa and Lesotho later this year," said Judith Macgregor, British High Commissioner to South Africa.

"The visit will showcase the wide range of co-operation between our countries as well as offer an excellent platform to further develop the partnerships between the UK and South Africa and Lesotho. "It will be the Prince's third official and charitable visit to South Africa to date; in 1997, he accompanied his father Prince Charles, in 2010 he was there with his brother Prince William, and in 2013 he paid a visit on behalf of Sentebale.
