Princess Charlene of Monaco and Prince Albert enjoyed a family day out with their eight-month-old twins Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella on Friday. The proud parents, who seem to be happier than ever since the arrival of the babies, were showing them off at a picnic in the principality. For the fun day out Their Royal Cutenesses had been kitted out in traditional local outfits to match the attire of the other youngsters at the event.

Wide awake and observing proceedings with interest, the royal twins couldn't have looked more adorable. Both have fair colouring that they have inherited from their mother and late grandmother, Princess Grace.

The family engagement follows a series of loved up appearances by the reigning couple in the last few months. In July they hosted a glamorous wedding party for Albert's nephew Pierre Casiraghi and his Italian bride, society beauty Beatrice Borromeo, in the royal palace.

Prince Albert and Princess Charlene seem very content with family life

Pierre, who is the younger son of Princess Caroline, got married in a civil ceremony in one of the palace's salons. The newlyweds were then joined by no less than 700 guests at their "garden party-style" reception.

Charlene and her husband then attended the glittering Red Cross Ball. Monaco's statuesque first lady was on flawless form in a unique one-shoulder red jumpsuit with gold, strappy heels. Looking very much in love, the couple twirled around the ballroom watched by fellow partygoers.

Charlene and Albert seemed to be enjoying their night off parenting duty and mingled with other guests in the legendary Salle des Etoiles at the Sporting Monte Carlo. The venue was built on the orders of Albert's father Prince Rainier III and has hosted the gala since its foundation in 1948. Entertainment on the night was provided by Sting, who kicked off his performance after the sit-down dinner.

Earlier that month the 57-year-old sovereign celebrated 10 years of his accession to the throne. The highlight of the festivities was when 37-year-old Charlene took to the stage and made an emotional speech in French declaring Albert, the "prince of her heart" – a touching gesture that even took her husband by surprise.
