Duchess Kate carries out solo engagements in London

October 27, 2015

The day after attending the glitzy Spectre premiere with her husband Prince William, the Duchess of Cambridge, neé Kate Middleton, returned to royal duties carrying out two solo engagements in London. The first took 33-year-old Kate to Islington, north London where she met staff and children from Chance UK.

The charity helps youngsters aged between five to 11 who are at risk of developing anti-social or criminal behaviour. During the engagement, Kate met mentors, children and their parents involved in the charity's early intervention scheme.

Her husband Prince William, also 33, had his own engagement to attend to. The Duke took part in investiture ceremonies at Buckingham Palace where he presented Frank Lampard, among other stars, with an OBE.

During her engagement on Tuesday, Kate, who looked pretty in a grey Orla Kiely dress and scooped her hair into a high ponytail, attended a reception celebrating the work of the charity and met some of Chance UK's staff and supporters.

Prince George and Princess Charlotte's mum has previously spoken about the need to help children from a young age.

As royal patron of Place2Be, the Duchess recorded a video message, saying: "Through Place2Be I have seen the benefits of offering children support for their mental health in the safety of the school environment. Both William and I sincerely believe that early action can prevent problems in childhood from turning into larger ones later in life."

On Tuesday evening Kate will step out for her second engagement of the day. The elegant royal will attend the 100 Women in Hedge Funds Gala Dinner at the Victoria and Albert Museum, which is being held in honour of another of Kate's charities, The Art Room.

The charity offers art as therapy to children experiencing emotional and behavioural difficulties, in order to increase their self-esteem, self confidence and independence.

Before guests sit down for dinner, the 100WHF 2015 European Industry Leadership Award will be presented.

Kate is also a patron of the 100 Women in Hedge Funds' Philanthropic Initiatives. Each year the non-profit organisation chooses a charity to raise money for and all proceeds from the evening are donated to it, in this case The Art Room.
