Prince Charles is set to celebrate his birthday with a beach-side barbecue in Australia. The Prince, who turns 67 on Saturday, will mark his special day alongside his wife the Duchess of Cornwall and more than 500 guests as part of their 12-day visit to New Zealand and Australia.

The celebrations will be held in the picturesque pine gardens at the Cottesloe Civic Centre in Perth, Western Australia. State Premier Colin Barnett has said he plans to give the royal couple a taste of "the very best West Australian produce," while the venue will offer stunning views over the Indian Ocean.

The guest list includes local families and emergency service workers such as nurses, paramedics, police and firefighters.

It is not the first time the future King has paid a visit to Cottesloe beach; in 1979 the Prince, then a bachelor, was famously chased through the surf by Australian model Jane Priest, who boldly gave him a kiss on the cheek.

Charles and Camilla arrived in Australia on Tuesday and visited Tanunda in the Barossa region, north east of Adelaide, before going on a tour of the Seppeltsfield Winery.

On Wednesday, the couple marked Remembrance Day alongside Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra. After paying their respects at the Remembrance Day National Ceremony, Camilla went to visit a truffle farm.

The Duchess then toured the grounds of Government House, the official residence of the Queen's representative, the Governor-General. From the comfort of a golf buggy, Camilla was able to spot the kangaroos who live in the grounds.

The royal couple's agenda also includes stops in Sydney, Albany and Perth before they fly back to Britain on Sunday.
