During a visit to a garment factory in Dhaka, Bangladesh, it was only fitting that Queen Máxima of the Netherlands should show off her sartorial prowess. The elegant queen, who is on a three-day tour of the South Asian country, was an incredible sight for sore eyes.

Máxima was characteristically chic in a colourful outfit, which consisted of a bright pink long-sleeved top and a camel skirt that featured a pink edge.

The mum-of-three, who is known for her love of statement dressing, completed her look with a pair of oversized pink earrings and a casual low bun.

Máxima, 44, was visiting a garment factory where she was given an insight into how the business was run and saw women making clothes first-hand.

King Willem-Alexander's wife proved a hit with the locals, as she was pictured chatting to female workers and sharing a joke with them. Máxima sweetly shared a hug with one woman, while also inspecting some children's clothes made by another group of employees.

The Dutch monarch, who arrived on Monday, was invited to Bangladesh in her capacity as the UN Secretary-General's Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development – a role she was appointed in 2009. Her visit has focused on supporting financially excluded people and small businesses.

In a statement released online, Máxima wrote: "Above all, we must keep in mind that financial inclusion is about human development and empowerment; about giving people the means to improve their own lives.

"Throughout the coming year I look forward to working closely with a community of dedicated local, national, and international partners to break down the barriers for those who remain outside the financial system. A more inclusive future is starting to unfold."

Máxima showed no signs of her recent hospitilisation

The queen's visit to Bangladesh comes after Máxima was recently hospitalised for a kidney infection. She was forced to cut short an official state visit to China when she fell ill and suffered back pain and a fever.

Máxima, who was abroad with her husband Willem-Alexander, was flown back home to the Netherlands where she received further treatment at the Bronovo Hospital in The Hague.

Following her recovery, she returned to royal duties at the start of November.
