The Queen is set to celebrate her 90th birthday in monumental style with four nights of festivities at Windsor Castle. Some 25,000 tickets went on sale on Tuesday for the celebrations, which are set to feature 900 horses and 1,500 performers.
Buckingham Palace has announced that the birthday celebrations, hosted in Windsor's Home Park, will involve performances from dancers, musicians and choirs, along with well-known artists and actors.
The Queen will celebrate her 90th birthday with four live shows in Windsor
Members of the royal family will attend each night of celebrations from 12-15 May, with the Queen confirmed to attend the final show, which will be broadcast live on ITV.
Tickets to the celebrations cost between £55 and £165 on the first three nights, and rise to between £75 and £195 on the final night. Meanwhile a free ballot for tickets to a pre-show party on The Long Walk, which leads through the park to Windsor Castle, will open early next year. Another 5,000 free tickets will be made available to watch the final show on a giant screen in Windsor.
The Queen will also host a street party on The Mall in June
Simon Brooks-Ward, producer and director, said: "We've been working hard to make this a most unique birthday celebration. We're especially delighted with our plans to offer an extra 5,000 people the chance to be part of the celebrations through our balloted system for tickets on The Long Walk. This will take place in the New Year."
The Queen, who officially turns 90 on 21 April, will also mark the milestone day with the biggest street party ever on The Mall in London on 12 June. It was confirmed in July that 10,000 guests will be invited to the quintessentially British celebrations, set to be attended by the Queen and Prince Philip along with her grandsons Princes William and Harry and other members of the royal family.
Other commemorations set to take place on the weekend of the Queen's official birthday in June include a service of thanksgiving at St Paul's Cathedral and Trooping the Colour.
